چکیده

J Korean Assoc Oral Maxillofac Surg 2012;38:85-9) Objectives: This study was to evaluate the effect of vertical bone gain and success rate and analyze the failure cases using the hydrodynamic piezoelectric internal sinus elevation (HPISE) technique. Materials and Methods: Patients who had been operated in the three centers including Daegu Catholic University Medical Center were selected for this study. The mucoperiosteal flap was elevated, and the sinus floor was then broken by specially designed piezoelectric insert, with hydraulic pressure applied to the sinus membrane for even elevation. Afterward, implants were placed. Panoramic radiogram or computed tomogram was taken before and after surgery and at the second operation and prosthesis placement. Later, changes in vertical height were measured and compared. The survival rate was based on the criteria of Buser et al. and Cochran et al. Results: In this study, 8 implants failed out of a total of 169 implants, resulting a success rate of 95.3%. These failure cases were due to insufficient initial stability or sinus membrane perforation. The mean of radiographic vertical height change at prosthesis placement was 5.7 mm (0.5-10.5 mm). Conclusion: In this study, HPISE technique was found to be a predictable treatment for atrophic maxilla and an alternative technique to the lateral approach.

Using Absorbable Gelatin Sponge to Facilitate Sinus Membrane Elevation during Open Sinus Lift: Technical Notes and Case Series

Ridge atrophy accompanied by the pneumatization of maxillary sinus in the maxillary posterior region may lead to inadequate bone height, thereby precluding implant placement. Therefore, it may be mandatory to perform a sinus membrane elevation procedure and augmentation in the bone. The present study aimed to introduce a novel modification method for sinus floor elevation using a gelatin sponge...

Use of Implant-Derived Minimally Invasive Sinus Floor Elevation: A Multicenter Clinical Observational Study With 12- to 65-Month Follow-Up.

The aim of this study is to evaluate the performance of implant-derived minimally invasive sinus floor elevation. A multicenter retrospective study was performed in 5 dental clinics. Patients requiring sinus augmentation for single implant placement were recorded and followed up. The dental implant used in this trial was a self-tapping endosseous dental implant that contains an internal channel...

Minimally invasive transcrestal sinus floor elevation with deproteinized bovine bone or β-tricalcium phosphate: a multicenter, double-blind, randomized, controlled clinical trial.

AIMS To evaluate the outcomes of transcrestal sinus floor elevation (tSFE) performed with a minimally invasive procedure (Smart Lift technique) combined with the additional use of deproteinized bovine bone mineral (DBBM) or β-tricalcium phosphate (β-TCP). METHODS In a multicenter randomized controlled trial, 38 sites in 38 patients were treated with the Smart Lift technique in association wit...

Hydrodynamic ultrasonic maxillary sinus lift: Review of a new technique and presentation of a clinical case

OBJECTIVES Placing implants in the posterior maxillary area has the drawback of working with scarce, poor quality bone in a significant percentage of cases. Numerous advanced surgical techniques have been developed to overcome the difficulties associated with these limitations. Subsequent to reports on the elevation of the maxillary sinus through the lateral approach, there were reports on the ...

Schneiderian Membrane Perforation on Posterior Maxillary Implant....Nooh N

The extraction of posterior teeth and subsequent pneumatization of the maxillary sinus compromises osseointegrated implant placement in the posterior maxilla and necessitates associated surgical procedures like sinus floor elevation (sinus lift) and maxillary ridge augmentation. Sinus lift and bone grafting is the procedure of choice when the crestal bone height (CBH) is less than the shortest ...
